I feel like I have been a teacher my entire life! I loved playing school as a child and “encouraging” my sibling and neighbors to join my make-believe classroom. I fell in love with the classroom early and the joy continues to this day. My undergraduate work at University of Illinois was centered on urban elementary education. I spent several years focusing on early childhood education, which was later followed by an intense interest in reading comprehension skill building. Recent classwork has centered on producing lifelong readers and writers. I have had the amazing opportunity to teach at all grade levels (pre-K through high school) which affords me the unique perspective of seeing the “whole picture” in a child’s educational process. I relish the challenge to bring life, energy, enthusiasm, and heart to the classroom. It is truly an honor to teach in the Catholic school and follow in the footsteps of Jesus in my sincere endeavor to produce participating and literate Catholics. I strive to help each child discover their own God-given talents and optimize those qualities in the course of our year together. We make important connections to our own past experiences, to one another, and to our ever-changing world.
